There's a pond not too far from where we live, that I've painted from different perspectives over the last few years. It freezes over in winter; in the fall the trees around the bank reflect red and orange in the still wate and in the spring and summer lily pads bloom white and pink. I applied some of the lessons I've learned from the impressionists and create 'my" impression of the waterlilies. This painting is one of those works. I began the painting "en plein air", along the banks of the pond in spring and completed it in studio a few months later,
