Green Grass and High Tide
#190802 16x20 oil on canvas
The summer of 2019 was a busy few months. I completed seven plein air paintings and a number of sketches that I'll use as reference material during the coming fall and winter. This painting was one I completed during our trip to North Carolina's Outer Banks. The marsh lands along Carrrituck Sound is surrounded by long grass that sway in the wind. The boardwalk along the sound affords a perfect spot to spend an afternoon painting. "Green Grass" is the result of one of those afternoons. If you look carefully just below the horizon, you can see my daughter Casey speeding by on a jetski. Summer fun on the Outer Banks.
