#190401 24x20 oil on canvas
An "alla prima" painting, that was born of a suggestion by a YouTube video. I was "stuck" and really had no idea how to break through a creative block. I saw a painter on video who suggested just sitting down and painting. So... I began without a plan, except that I would allow the process to follow it's own course. Several hours later, this was the result. The composition evolved as the shapes revealed themselves in the paint. I've often thought that some paintings are already hidden in the canvas and that the artist pushes paint around until the canvas shows him what's already there. That's what it felt like during this session. I got "unstuck". I'm not sure it's my best work, but it was a very freeing and enjoyable painting to execute.
