Black's Creek

#180602    oil on canvas  24X20   Plein Air    (2018)

This plein air work shows Black's Creek, in my home town of Quincy ,MA. The creek is a tidal terminus of Furnace Brook which flows through the city from it's source in the Blue Hills. I used to walk my dogs along the banks and they'd make half-hearted efforts at chasing the ducks and geese which swim in the brackish water. I'd wanted to paint the creek for some time and on this particular day the sun cooperated by providing me long shadows in the trees and some bright reflections in the water. This painting hangs in our den and I find myself looking at it very often. I think it's a very peaceful feeling painting
