Autumn Reflections At Black's  Creek

          #191201                        16X20                  oil on canvas

An early fall return to Black's Creek in Quincy, Massachusetts.  I find myself painting here often because it's a very relaxing environment and the twists  and turns in the creek offer a variety of compositional opportunities. The colors seem to change almost daily as the seasons progress and on this particular day the yellows and browns along the shoreline were the dominate hues.  The water was very still on this particular day and the colors were reflected as if in a mirror. The painting was begun as a plein air work but  completed in December in the studio. Finishing the  painting gave me the opportunity to "relive"  a pleasant day along the creek. I kept the colors muted and the  edges soft to evoke a sense of peacefulness and quiet.  Enjoy.
